Personal Care Services
How do we support people with personal care at home?
Personal care is a regulated service. This means companies that provide any form of personal care (washing/ bathing/ dressing/private hygiene) must be registered with Care Quality Commission. They regulate that we meet and exceed all good care standards and that our personal care services are delivered with dignity and privacy. BE CAREFUL: Always be extra careful if considering hiring a private carer, as these are not regulated (like our carers are.)
Our team can support with:
- Bathing and showering
- Hair washing
- Foot soaking
- Cream application
- Continence care
- Getting dressed
- Oral hygiene
- Applying makeup
- Shaving facial hair
- Managing catheters or stomas.
Personal care may include bathing and showering, including bed baths, and applying lotions and creams as required. Personal care is delivered discreetly and sensitively with one-to-one support from a fully-trained carer. We believe in the importance of continuity of carers. Personal care can be very daunting at first and it's important to build up trust and a sense of comfort with a small team of carers allocated.
We respect everyone's body, views, and preferences. For example, if you want female-only carers to provide personal care, then that is what will be allocated. We would never allow anyone to feel uncomfortable. It's important to know that our team has seen every body part size, shape, age, and condition and they would never judge. Our team provides personal care sensitively and respectfully, we allow privacy whenever it is needed/wanted and we always allow time for service users to adjust.
We establish a routine that service users are comfortable and familiar with, and thats convenient to them. ALl of our care plans are person centred to deliver the best quality home care.
"The carers are angels. My Dad didn't like the idea at first, but now he looks forward to the visits and is so grateful for the help."
